FAQ

Questions we get asked a lot.

What exactly does Patch 'N Protect do?

We handle all patch management, firmware updates, and proactive infrastructure maintenance for your business. Everything is executed after hours so your team never experiences disruption. Think of us as the specialist your IT team wishes they had time to be.

Who is Patch 'N Protect built for?

We work best with small to mid-size businesses in regulated or security-conscious industries. Law firms, financial offices, medical practices, and any organization where downtime and missed patches simply are not an option.

What's the difference between Patch 'N Protect and a regular MSP?

Most MSPs treat patching as a low-priority background task. We treat it as the entire job. We don't manage your helpdesk, set up new computers, or field user tickets. We specialize exclusively in keeping your infrastructure patched, updated, and secure. That focus is what makes us different.

Do you replace our existing IT team or MSP?

No. We work alongside them. We operate as a specialized patch and firmware layer that handles what most IT teams consistently deprioritize. Many of our clients already have an internal IT person or an MSP. We fill the gap they don't have time for.

What devices and systems do you cover?

We cover Windows servers and workstations, firewalls, switches, access points, UPS systems, and virtualization and storage environments including VMware, SANs, and major storage vendors. You can see our full vendor list on the Services page.

How do I get started?

It starts with a free discovery call. We learn about your environment, you learn about us, and we figure out together if there's a fit. No commitment, no sales pressure. From there we conduct a free assessment and deliver a written risk report within 48 hours.

What happens during the free assessment?

We perform a full audit of your infrastructure. That includes reviewing patch status across all devices, inventorying firmware versions for your network equipment, and identifying critical vulnerabilities and gaps. You receive a written risk report regardless of whether you move forward with us.

How long does onboarding take?

From the first discovery call to your first maintenance window typically takes one to two weeks. That includes the assessment, plan delivery, contract signing, and access provisioning. We move at whatever pace is comfortable for you.

Will there be any disruption to our business during onboarding or maintenance?

None. All work is executed after hours during agreed maintenance windows. Your team arrives each morning to a patched, updated environment and they never experience the work happening.

How do we know what work was done each month?

Every month you receive a full written report detailing what was patched, what firmware was updated, what's pending, and what's coming next. Full transparency, every time.

We've never heard of Patch 'N Protect. How do we know you're legitimate?

Fair question. Patch 'N Protect is founded and operated by a NOC Proactive Maintenance Manager with extensive experience managing critical infrastructure across business environments. Every engagement starts with a free assessment and a written risk report so you can evaluate the quality of our work before committing to anything.

What if something goes wrong during a maintenance window?

Every maintenance window is planned, documented, and executed with rollback procedures in place. If something unexpected occurs, we address it immediately and you are notified before your business day begins. We do not close a window until your environment is stable.

Is there a minimum contract length?

No. Monthly plans operate on a rolling monthly agreement. There is no lock-in. Stay because the service works, not because a contract forces you to.

What does the 30-day money-back guarantee actually cover?

If after your first month of service we have not delivered on the agreed scope, meaning the devices, updates, and maintenance windows outlined in your contract, you receive a full refund, no questions asked. It is written into your service agreement before work begins so there is no ambiguity.

What happens if we want to cancel?

You notify us before your next billing date and the service ends. We provide a final report summarizing everything maintained during your engagement so your next IT provider has full documentation to work from. No awkward conversations, no penalties.

Why don't you list a fixed price on the website?

Because quoting a number before understanding your environment would be dishonest. A 5-person office with one firewall and a 40-person firm running VMware, SANs, and multiple switches are completely different scopes of work. We price based on what we actually find, not a number pulled from a template.

When do I pay for a monthly plan?

Your first month is collected after the contract is signed and before work begins. At that point you have seen the full assessment, the full plan, and the exact price. No surprises. Every month after that is billed on the same date.

When do I pay for a One and Done service?

One and Done jobs are scoped and quoted before any work begins. Payment is collected once you have agreed to the quote and before we touch anything. A full summary report is delivered on completion.

Are there any hidden fees or add-ons?

None. Your monthly rate covers the full scope agreed in your maintenance plan. If your environment changes significantly we revisit the scope together before adjusting anything. You will never see a charge you did not agree to in advance.

Can you work alongside our existing IT team or MSP?

Yes. We operate as a specialized patch and firmware layer alongside your existing IT department or MSP. We handle what most teams consistently deprioritize so nothing falls through the cracks.
